What next? Three parties make proposals for Manchester United takeover
What happens next at Manchester United? Dale O'Donnell has his say on what we know so far amid offers from Qatar, INEOS and the United States.
Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe went public after making their offers to try and complete a takeover of Manchester United ahead of Friday’s soft deadline.
Al Thani, chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), announced shortly after 8pm that he had tabled a bid in attempt to restore the club back to its previous heights. Ratcliffe and his INEOS group got on board later.
We can suspect that make bids were made to The Raine Group and some of them we’ll never hear about - but it’s an interesting tactic to go public so early, isn’t it? Qatar will be testing the water and monitoring how fans on social react, which has been pretty mixed to say the least, while Sir Jim Ratcliffe was recently seen as the ‘saviour’ to many.
