David Beckham interested but Sir Jim Ratcliffe will bid for Manchester United - biggest headlines since Glazer announcement
Manchester United is up for sale. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to make a bid. 🚨
Manchester United have been restricted under the ownership of the Glazer family for the past 17-years, but in the past 24 hours it has emerged that the club has been put up for sale, prompting lots of speculation throughout the media.
The Glazers issued a statement on the same day that Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract was terminated by the club, with the Portuguese forward leaving by mutual agreement following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan which was aired last week.
I did my best to cover everything that was reported throughout the day and I’ve listed some of the more important headlines since the story broke last night.
It’s the never-ending story of the year in my eyes.
Jim O’Neill would consider Manchester United bid
The man behind the Red Knights movement back in 2010.
Apparently he’d be interested in a takeover but only if the Glazers lowered their ‘unrealistic’ asking price, which has not been made public, though early reports suggest the club could go for as much as £5 billion.
In other words, O’Neill won’t be competing to buy Manchester United anytime soon.
