Shaun Connolly’s preview - FC Sheriff Tiraspol
Manchester United make the trip to Moldova to face domestic kingpins FC Sheriff Tiraspol in the UEFA Europa League.
This will be the first competitive meeting between the sides. Sheriff are no stranger to English opposition, however, having previously faced Tottenham Hotspur in 2013-14, with Christian Eriksen featuring for the Londoners at the time.
United boss Erik ten Hag has lost only two away matches in major European competitions as a manager. Following his side's disappointing defeat to Real Sociedad, he'll be looking for a positive response in game week two.
Domestically, both sides are in strong form and the hosts boast a favourable home record in the Europa League - remaining unbeaten in their previous five games.
With Sociedad hosting Neil Lennon’s Omonia, it’s imperative that United leave Moldova with maximum points. The Premier League side will enter as firm favourites, knowing they must treat their opponents with maximum respect.
Kick-off at the Bolshaya Sportivnaya Arena is at the earlier time of 17:45, on Thursday 15 September
