Covering: Ronaldo back in Manchester, Martinez and Eriksen announced REALLY soon, De Jong dragging on...
Good morning!
Cristiano Ronaldo still wants to leave Manchester United, but, again, Jorge Mendes is struggling to find a suitable buyer. Today he meets with Erik ten Hag to map out his future, as per Pedro Sepulveda.
I have maintained all summer that Mendes has led the pursuit to find Ronaldo a new club. The agent has been in Ronaldo’s ear all summer, while others close to him are not of the same opinion when it comes to departing Manchester for a second time in his career.
Ultimately, I think the way the Ronaldo story has been handled this summer has been awful on Ronaldo’s part.
The timing, cryptic social media posts and non-stop speculation has only made life harder for the new manager. Now, he has a 37-year-old striker who has yet to do any training with the group this summer.
It’s far from ideal and United don’t need another soap opera.
Furthermore, I was told by one source last week that Ronaldo would be fined if he refused to turn up for training this week.
We need some incoming transfer news every morning and I would be shocked if we didn’t see an announcement today or tomorrow on Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen. The pair trained together at Carrington last week and will mix with the other first-team players in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Frenkie de Jong is still waiting on the €17million he is owed by Barcelona. Chelsea’s interest should not be ignored as we’ve heard they are on alert when it comes to the Netherlands international.
Gary Neville has advised De Jong to take legal action against Barca.
It must be said that De Jong is not entitled to the €17m until his contract expires, which explains why Barca are reluctant to pay it now as they’ve got a number of other problems to address like completing the signing of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
A lot of things embarrass us about Manchester United but Barcelona are a completely shambles. Everything is so shifty about them and Joan Laporta cannot be trusted.
