Covering: Brentford vs Manchester United, fresh push for Frenkie de Jong, John Murtough spotted in Turin, U21s suffer heavy defeat against Crystal Palace.
Good morning!
It’s match day and we are hoping to see Manchester United get their season on track with a win over Brentford.
Thomas Frank says we can’t afford to lose after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last week. That’s a bit extreme and I think he’s just trying to get a rise out of his players ahead of the game.
Anyway, there was an update on United’s quest to sign Frenkie de Jong last night when Marcel Van Der Kraan of the Telegraaf said he expects the Red Devils to make a fresh push to sign the Netherlands midfielder in the coming days.
Something must be brewing…
Meanwhile, John Murtough was spotted in Turin to discuss Adrien Rabiot’s contract. Juventus are not going to stand in his way at this point. Stretty News columnist Shaun Connolly wrote a brilliant article on the France international on Friday.
The U21s lost 5-1 against Crystal Palace at Leigh Sports Village – but at least Charlie Savage got on the scoresheet with a composed finisher.
Make sure to check out the blog throughout the day for updates from the game. I’m predicting a 3-1 win for the Reds but I doubt that will be enough to shut up Thomas Frank…
