Covering: De Jong deal stalls, Lisandro Martinez personal terms agreed, Cristiano Ronaldo's £210m offer, squad arrives in Australia, David Beckham coming to Netflix, plus lots more... 🔜💰📺
Good morning!
With every day that passes in this Frenkie de Jong saga, I edge closer to spotting my first grey hair.
The constant updates in the media are fucking tiresome and, at this stage, I just want to know when the deal will be done or if United plan to walk away from the negotiation table at any stage.
I’m 26 and really shouldn’t be going grey.
The deal to sign De Jong is ‘stalling’ if you believe Fabrizio Romano. Meanwhile, the Spanish media want you to believe the midfielder doesn’t want to join United, although The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell is of the opinion that De Jong is open to a switch to Old Trafford.
So many contradictions but my gut feeling is Ten Hag would know by now if De Jong has intentions to play for United. It would be ridiculous to spend all this time on the transfer and not end up with our priority target.
The PR department would be working in overdrive!
However, what people at United must realise is that the mood among the fanbase will get a lot worse if things don’t improve - and tensions are always intensifying, especially after the extremely disappointing season we’ve just suffered and the fact our owners are fucking parasites.
On a further note, I must add, that I am not just talking about new signings. It takes a lot more than that to run a football club properly.
United’s recruitment team needs vast improvements and John Murtough will hope to bring that this summer. It doesn’t help that fans are rightly feeling impatient.
But, please, I ask on behalf of United fans - take us out of this misery and seal the deal. I don’t want De Jong getting cold feet.
Here we go? Why the hell not… 🔜
Romano says a deal is imminent to see Lisandro Martinez join Manchester United. An agreement is close for more than €50 million and United chiefs hope to seal the deal in the next 24 hours.
There has been an agreement reached between United and Martinez in regard to personal terms, which means he’s told Arsenal to fuck off.
I have a feeling that Ten Hag is planning for Martinez to slot in alongside Harry Maguire instead of Raphael Varane, unless the Dutchman opts for a back three next season. Ten Hag likes ball playing central defenders and, if you can think beyond last season, you will remember that Maguire is one of the best at it. The manager has already made a point by allowing the England international to remain as captain.
Cristiano Ronaldo to Suadi Arabia 🐐🇸🇦
I’ve been one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s biggest fans, but United would be stupid to pass on the opportunity to make £30 million on a player who is reportedly unhappy at the club.
Apparently there’s a £210 million offer on the table from Saudi Arabia to take Ronaldo out of his misery. I’d argue the move would cause more misery but each to their own.
I’d also like Ronaldo to stay… but only if he wants to. Thinking back to the 2008/09 season, he put in an almighty effort despite knowing he was off to Madrid.
Manchester United squad arrives in Australia - ahead of Friday’s game against Melbourne Victory 🇦🇺
