🔴 Saturday MUFC round-up: The media continues to pointlessly bang the Ronaldo drum, unresolved goalkeeper situation 🤷♂️
Getting fed up of the Cristiano Ronaldo spin? Us too.

It’s like certain newspapers are writing an erotic novel they never want to end.
The romance of Cristiano Ronaldo one day returning to Manchester United, where he went from skinny teen with noodle like hair to a world beater, will exist forever. Well, until the day he decides to walk away from football.
It wasn’t a tournament to remember for Portugal — unlike the last European Championships — as they crashed out in the last-16. But with Ronaldo keen to move Euro elimination at the back of his mind, Fabrizio Romano explained on the Strettycast this week that the Juventus star’s agent has yet to discuss the player’s future with the Old Lady.
There is nothing in the Ronaldo to United reports, though.
The latest from the clickbait machine (Gazetta dello Sport - cited by the Daily Star w/ United references) suggests Ronaldo is available for as little as £25m this summer — that’s before any interested club sits down and talks wages with Jorge Mendes.
Ronaldo is out of contract next year and Juventus need to make a decision soon.
Getting rid could save Juve £75m in wages and you are crazy if you think United are going to fork anything like that out when they need to address problems elsewhere.
As editor of SN, I see constant Ronaldo to United links in foreign press and in the summer you usually see the likes of the Star and Express pop up. And if it’s not Ronaldo, it’s Neymar or Gareth Bale — although the Welshman would struggle to get into the United side these days (and how irritating would it be having to watch Neymar act the clown every week?).
I have to filter everything that goes out. Fresh claims, fine - but it’s just nonsense now.
Manchester United are working on a deal with Raphael Varane’s entourage and only with time we will know how they develop. The club also plans to renew Bruno Fernandes’ contract.
Sancho to start against Ukraine 🦁
Did anyone see this coming? I certainly pictured a meme after the Sancho announcement during the week.
Heaton returns - Edwin responds 🙌🏻
Tom Heaton is back where it all started.
That leaves questions over David de Gea and Dean Henderson, with Lee Grant already given a new deal. It is not sustainable to keep both goalkeepers for another season.
It’s time for the manager to make his decision but not only that, as we need the club to back him with whatever keeper he decides is his number one next season.
From what we understand, selling De Gea this summer will prove to be extremely tricky. PSG have Donnaruma and I don’t see many top clubs are in a position where they need to take a risk on the Spaniard.
A Sanchez-esque loan move has been tipped to the bunker - meaning United will probably end up playing a big chunk of his wages so that he can leave on loan for the season.
Surely Henderson will be number one?
